How it’s worked out

Fees are the sale price times the selling and payment percentages, plus the fixed fee per sale. Your payout is the sale price less fees. Profit is the payout less what you paid, the postage you cover and any other costs.

The break-even price is where profit is exactly zero once fees come off. The target price works the same way, with the profit you want added to your costs.

Questions

Do private sellers pay eBay fees in the UK?
Private sellers in the UK don’t pay a final value fee on most items, including clothes and shoes. Business sellers do, and the rate depends on the category.

Free postage can help a listing rank and sell, but the cost comes out of your profit. Put the postage you’ll pay into the calculator to see the price you need to charge.
Does eBay take a fee on the postage too?
For business sellers the final value fee is usually worked out on the total the buyer pays, including postage. If that applies to you, add the postage to the sale price here.
